One of the reasons I think you should read this book is because the plot is enthralling. This is because the plot twists. One of the ways the plot twist is that the community seems utopian at the beginning and distopian at the end. Another way that the book has a good plot is thatJonas has different motives in the beginning versus the end. An example is In the beginning Jonas wants to be accepted, in the end Jonas wants to be Elsewhere. You also discover more about the darker aspects of community as the story goes on like You discover what "release" is
My second reason that this book is good is because of the interesting characters. Jonas is an interesting character because he can carry memories that are hundreds of years old. The Giver is interesting because he can give and take memories from people. Jonas' Parents are interesting because they seem to love him in the beginning, but when Jonas asks them what love means, they say that the word love is meaningless
My final reason Why you should read The Giver is because it is popular. My first reason is that they made a movie. https://thegiverfilm.com/ (official movie website). My second reason is that it got 4 1/2 and 5 stars for a rating. My final reason is that the author wrote 3 more books, Gathering Blue (2000), Messenger (2004), Son (2012)
